The Bank of New York acquires IVY asset Management

August 10, 2000 - The Bank of New York Company, the parent of one of the oldest banks in the United States, said yesterday that it had bought the privately held Ivy Asset Management Corporation to increase the number of hedge funds it can offer its clients. Bank of New York, which did not disclose terms of the deal, said Ivy, which is based in Garden City, N.Y., is a money management firm handling more than $2.4 billion in client money from high net worth individuals and institutional clients like pension plans and insurance companies.
